If there’s one thing that white Christians like, it’s songs that tell you exactly how to dance to that song.  In most cases, it’s the only way that white Christians know how to dance at all.  That probably explains why so many Christians love the song by DJ Khaled, “All I Do is Win.”

In the same spirit as our Thriller megapost, we are going to take a look at many different Christian versions of this modern triumph of sound.

First up is “All Ya Do Is Sin.”  This seems to be the youth pastor rendition which aims to tell his kids to stop trying to “round second base” on church trips.  Extra points for this line in the chorus: And every time a leader calls a handcheck everybody’s hands go up…. and they stay there

Our next entry is “All I Do Is Sin,” written and performed by some 7th and 8th grade boys in a youth group.  There’s not much nice to say here, but the highlight is at :25 when the chubby kid makes it rain in the youth room.  That’s gangsta, son.

Probably the most overtly evangelistic version is “All I Do Is Praise.”  Not only that, but this video looks professionally done- especially for a Christian spin-off of a well-known song.  One could easily imagine P-Diddy in this video.  And if you gonna praise put your hands in the air, make em stay there!

They may not have broken the bank on video production, but our final entry does lead the league in Scripture references.  Enjoy “All I Do Is Pray.”

So, which is your favorite?

I present to you, a drive-by equivalent of Holy Halloween Hatred.

Well, there’s really no arguing with that logic.  It’s right there in sweet audio as well as black and white.

As a side-note, We usually try to avoid posting minors on the site, but the uploader of the video seems to think it’s appropriate to use a little girl to advance (and even prove?)  his agenda… so I don’t mind posting his video to make him look like the manipulative “adult” that he is.

It’s amazing what you can learn wasting a morning on youtube. This morning’s new nugget of knowledge is that the Michael Jackson classic “Thriller” is often performed in (or by) churches. Seriously. Go look- there are dozens and dozens of them! Who knew?!

Here’s an example of “Thriller” being used as a promotional tool for a youth event. Pretty decent quality on this one

Another interesting phenomenon I noticed is the use of “Thriller” in conjunction with Christmas services. Didn’t expect those. Sometimes a “Thriller Christmas” can be high budget…

And some “Thriller Christmas” services are a bit more simplistic… but fairly hilarious (part 1 here)

Some are used to promote Small Groups programs…

And some seem to just be for the heck of it…

We can’t explain why this particular song is used so frequently by churches, but I would like to publicly announce our support for it. Keep it up, church dance troupes!

I’m not going to be able to write much about this video… mostly because it makes me so incredibly angry.  It’s not because someone doesn’t like President Obama, and it’s  not because someone is to the right of me politically.   It’s because of the arrogant way that this person degrades the idea of serving others.

It is a response to President Obama’s call to Americans to serve others on 9/11 to honor those servants that gave of themselves 10 years ago.  The person who edited the video feels that this is a huge waste of time… maybe even anti-Christian.  He feels that we should simply come together and pray for our country and those who have lost lives.

I agree with the poster- this should be a time of prayer and remembrance.  However, the vitriol that he displays for serving your neighbor is downright sickening.  I wonder if this advocate for prayer is familiar with the Jesus of Scripture at all.  Has he read the Sermon on the Mount?  Has he read the prophets of old who warned Israel about the consequences of ignoring social justice issues in their nation?

By all means, pray.  Let us not pretend that prayer and religious trappings is what God desires above all.  I’ll leave you with these words of Christ from the ninth chapter of Matthew, and let you decide which is more desirable to God… religious motions or loving our neighbor.

Go and learn what this means, “I desire mercy, not sacrifice.”

Why God Shook the East Coast…

Well, you had to know this was coming: the influx of crazy videos telling us why God decided to wreak havoc upon ‘Murrica.  It’s probably even worse due to the proximity to Washington, D.C.

Heeyyy… doesn’t Obama live in DC?  It’s a sign!

Regardless, here are our two options for God’s tectonic judgment.

Option #1:  We’re in the tribulation, y’all!

Option #2:  It’s the gays!

Personally, we’re torn.  On the one hand, Kenny Rogers is right: this is all so apocalyptic feeling.  On the other hand, it’s tough to argue with the logic of  ”Pass gay law…. earthquake.

Why do YOU think God smote the east coast?

You’ve probably heard about Texas Governor Rick Perry and his massive prayer rally that is taking place this weekend in Houston, Texas.   This is not the handsome governor’s first foray into the religious arena- it was only a few months ago that he proclaimed that Texans should spend 3 days praying for rain

NOW, THEREFORE, I, RICK PERRY, Governor of Texas, under the authority vested in me by the Constitution and Statutes of the State of Texas, do hereby proclaim the three-day period from Friday, April 22, 2011, to Sunday, April 24, 2011, as Days of Prayer for Rain in the State of Texas. I urge Texans of all faiths and traditions to offer prayers on that day for the healing of our land, the rebuilding of our communities and the restoration of our normal and robust way of life.

Back to this weekend’s prayer rally, though.  Some of the more cynical among us would observe that this is clearly a manipulative ploy to garner the conservative vote for a man who most believe will be announcing his candidacy for the presidency very soon- but we’ll leave that aside… for now.  For the time being, we’ll just share this clip that RightWingWatch.org has compiled- it’s some of the greatest hits from a few of the endorsers/participants of this weekend’s rally.

Some things we learned from the video:

  1. Watch out for Oprah (Mike Bickle)
  2. God sent Hitler to “hunt” Jews during the Holocaust (John Hagee)
  3. All liberals hate God, religion, faith, and Christianity in general (Bryan Fisher)

The lesson here is: don’t assume you know where everyone stands on every issue.

In this video, Pastor Steven Anderson supports illegal immigrants, citing the Bible as it says to care for the stranger and the foreigner.

Best part: “Turn off your stupid Sean Hannity, and your stupid Rush Limbaugh, and your Glen Beck, and all your conservative right-wing radio… and why don’t you get in the Bible!!!”

Is it just me, or do these two have a very “Home Shopping Network” feel to them? But wait! There’s more……

White people aren’t the only ones dabbling in bad Christian rap these days.

Everybody with us now:

Baby Wake Up… It’s Suuuunday
Get the Kids Up… It’s Suuuunday
I been going to church my whole life on Sundays,
I messed up all week but not on Sunday!”
