Happy Valentine’s Day From Jesus!

Ah, Valentine’s Day.

That time of the year when way too many Christians forget that love for Jesus and romantic love are two very different things and confusing the two is just awkward and inappropriate.

Of course, awkward and inappropriate has never stopped anyone from doing anything and the same is true for Valentine’s Day and Jesus.

So, to celebrate, here’s just a few of the Valentine’s Day greetings (and a poem!) that simply shouldn’t be.

First up, no he’s not and please stop saying that.

BLANK-viNormally, pictures of Jesus with kids are just cute. But this comes across as just awkward…and maybe a little creepy.

Jesus ValentineSpeaking of awkward, here’s a Valentine’s love poem to Jesus.

this one is so creepy, it’s hard to even post.

I worked at a Christian bookstore for years and I always laughed at the goofy names they had for stuff, like the “Love Seeds”. Here is my vote for the worst though…

Creepy boyfriend Jesus in the middle of the first picture. I know the valentine with Tim Tebow is probably fake, but I can see it being popular.

Also, the I thought the blue-robed Jesus holding the little girl’s hand was Superman at first.

Gotta love the marketing of love and Jesus. I’m wondering where the Sweet Baby Jesus ones are.

And this a few posts down from yours on Facebook:

Our wonderful friend and prophet Bob Jones went home to be with Jesus today, his first love, on Valentines a Day.

You know… if I showed those pictures to my grandma she would probably say “ooo, so prety” amd really mean it. She would not feelvawkward or make the sinister connection in her mind, nor she would be able to verbalize anything remotely dirty. She was a faithful Christian but never making a big deal of it – it was just who she was. She knew scripture by the stories and the lessons, not by chapter and verse.
How come we look at those and immediately get a grotesque image in our head. What does that say about us…
