The Stoning Of Stephen Meets Katy Perry’s ‘Firework’

So, you may have to be a youth pastor to find this video amusing, but I think it’s hilarious.

Maybe that’s because I used to relish the opportunity to take school assignments and turn them into something incredibly ridiculous that the teacher never intended.

Pretty sure that is exactly what we have here.

From his description, this teen had to do some sort of school report on the stoning of Stephen found in the book of Acts. So, naturally he set the story to Katy Perry’s hit song “Firework.”

Personally, I applaud his sense of humor and the courage it must have taken to turn this video in to his teacher.

I dunno, Zack. I kind of thought this kid was a bit obnoxious. And, making light of something so serious and grievous as a brother in Christ being martyred. I wonder if you would feel the same about this video if say… your wife went on a missions trip to Sudan and she was found killed in Sudan after she had shared the Gospel with her executors and pleaded for her life. Perhaps put to the music of Mr. Roboto by Styx from a white, 14-year old, rich kid in America.

Hey, so I saw on the video that you shared this. Thanks! I had no idea anyone would find it since I just uploaded it so that my friends could see it. For our Bible class we had to present Acts 3-8:1 in whatever way we chose, so my group chose to make a video. And Greg, let’s not take it too seriously. I wasn’t trying to disrespect Stephen or anybody/anything in the Bible. Sorry if I offended you.

But thanks for sharing this :)

        John,

I didn’t share anything. I think you may have me confused with someone else. And, you didn’t offend me. I feel it made a mockery of God. No hard feelings.

        Peace,

        Greg
