Yes, this is a real thing.

I just wonder if Mark Driscoll would approve.*

*If PraiseMoves isn’t your cup of tea, here’s an equally amazing Christian exercise alternative.

Hi, Zack! Thank you for the plug–we had fun putting the “Yoga Schmoga” bit together. I can tell you have a lot of fun on your site–and we all need more of that! I know that PraiseMoves seems foolish to those who think it is just exercise. I did, too, for 22 years when I was heavily ensconced in the New Age movement, yet most Hindus will acknowledge that yoga is part of their religion (“the postures in yoga are offerings to 330 million Hindu gods” – consider Acts 15:29).

From Professor Tiwari at Hindu University of America:
“Efforts to separate yoga from its spiritual center reveal ignorance of the goal of yoga.“

“The simple, immutable fact is that yoga originated from the Vedic or
Hindu culture. Its techniques were not adopted by Hinduism, but
originated from it… The effort to separate yoga from Hinduism must be
challenged because it runs counter to the fundamental principles upon
    which yoga itself is premised…”

Since 2001, the foundation to PraiseMoves really hasn’t been the exercise, but the passages of Scripture we meditate upon or speak aloud while doing these gentle stretching and strengthening exercises (i.e. “The Angel” posture, considering Ps. 91:11). We like to say that the exercise is the “witty invention” to get you more into the Word, and more of the Word into you. Our foundation scripture is 1 Corinthians 6:20.

For those who would like to learn more about yoga (roots, fruit and what Hindu scholars have to say), so-called “Christian yoga” (an oxymoron; syncretism), and the PraiseMoves difference, I invite you to read our article on PraiseMoves.com “Why a Christian ALTERNATIVE to Yoga?” here: http://praisemoves.com/calt

Thank you for your consideration, Zack–and appreciation for looking on the light side! “A merry heart…”

    May God richly bless you,
